How To Make A Pinhole Camera With A Pringles Can

output Lent / out of the woods

After long weeks of absence, I'm back.

A new appointment, a busy and ( a first! ) hours of education at National University and that was it: I found myself completely overwhelmed! But everything is back to normal and now the blog again!

... And as you are not here to read the tale of a jaded expat, return quickly to our buffaloes Laos.

Today is the full moon of the eleventh month and is celebrated Ork Phansa ( vvdraolk ) or output of Buddhist Lent. A big party to celebrate the end of the retreat of the monks that lasted the duration of the rainy season.

In Vientiane, the output of Lent coincides with Lai Hua Fai , the festival of lights and the next day festival takes place canoes or Boun Souang Heua and all the festivities taking place around the river in honor of the 'naga', spirits, ancestors ...

The profane and the sacred together, as often in Laos, in a happy syncretism, thus illuminating the entrance of houses, shops, temples ... small candles. Inflaming the banks of the river from a myriad of small lights flickering, which shine through the night to the delight of the eyes and minds of the pranksters misfortune.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Tonight then, with friends, we parted company Vientiane for us to go south via Route 13 to a 60aine km from the capital. The aim of this expedition: see mystical (and mythical) fire balls ( bung fai paid nak) that appear on the evening of Ork Phansa which, tradition has it, are emanations of water spirits.

I can not say I saw something ... or that I have not seen anything ...

But the ride is worth the detour altogether ... Hundreds of people gathered in small assembled around a fire, are found along the river and piqueniquent family, tirelessly scrutinizing the waves.

Children play with sparks, alumni tell stories, the lovers are taking advantage of the darkness and the brouhaha to intertwine his fingers - and each other party live in their own way. All

, believe and expect.

A magical eye of falanga we are ... and I could not, alas, captured with my small compact ...

But after all the magic and poetry does not tamed in a few 'clicks' ...

Believing ... or nothing!

At J & R: A big thank you to the "Caron"! :)
