Onion Booty Birthday Booty

A little salt with a glass of Evian? Y

Daughter pub that I am, I am very sensitive to advertising in Southeast Asia is because it often surprises by the way so antagonistic to ours to showcase the products advertised.

is the case for this company that purifies and sells drinking water in 20-liter canister. For over a year I go see their beautiful trucks and I still wonder about their marketing strategy ...

Promote water to drink with images of the seabed seems to me a pretty good idea ... special, right?

Unused Club Nintendo Pins

of these phenomena here ... Poor students

The Porsche Carrera under the house on stilts in a neighborhood rather popular city troubles me as much as my students, most fellows from the remotest provinces, that play past few weeks with brand new I-Phones ... As

say my "compatriot" Blogger and friend Reeve :

"Go figure. In fact, that the response ?"

Substitutes For Waxing

Last Monday, in full preparation for the Ministerial Conference of Francophony, during the transition from our secretary of state for the Francophonie, Mr. Bockel, we were graciously invited (respondents?) at a reception at the Residence de France ...

Small cocktail Remarks by the Ambassador speech quite relaxed and pleasant Mr. Secretary of State ... and then distributing a pretty printed brochure on the occasion of the new light fittings designed to highlight some of the monuments of the capital.

The project, designed by the company Citelum and funded by our agency Development, AFD would be opened just in the transition from Mr Bockel. Indeed, the play of light, sublime cited the pretty, now visible at night, which was not previously the case.
Well, without wanting to play the killjoy, for that matter an entire ceremonial around this project, both to be careful when writing pads to avoid commercials ... say anything ... because to say that Vientiane is the capital of Laos, this is really wrong kind ...

Can You Drink In An Rv Wisconsin

The That Luang in full splendor

Of all the major traditional festivals and popular the That Luang is by far my favorite.

Having more room to move around (unlike the festivities taking place along the Mekong ...), to have an overview of the monument as a backdrop, makes the pretty impressive event.

This year, the esplanade of the That Luang, was more than ever invaded by dozens of stalls inviting onlookers, often come in large family, feast while enjoying grilled chicken, eggs hatched, purple rice sticky ... or why not buy helium balloons or Chinese collars for multicolored glitter children? The consumer products were also at the rendezvous with their stands attractive ... And we can assure you that this direct marketing, blinding and deafening as it is, works great! People from all over Laos in the late evening, are bent under the weight of their many shopping bags!
A celebration under heavy police surveillance anyway, to believe that fear of incidents during of large gatherings to be permanently seized from Laos. of police checkpoints , body searches three times before arriving at the foot of the That, special badges for the introduction of cameras and video cameras ... All with a smile happily. But a little bitter aftertaste of change in the air ...

The sad note of the weekend ... my little compact has finally given up the ghost ... So we took over the "brick" Bookseller, discrete point, but quite effective nonetheless.

I-catcher Console - Web Monitor Japan

Let's talk about work ... The Enchanted Manor

... since this weekend I'm working, I am sharing a little of what's happening in Vientiane on 19, 20 and 21 November (in direct and WiFi (!), The press room Don Chanh Palace !) .

Indeed, this week begins the Ministerial Conference of Francophonie, which stands between the Summits of la Francophonie to ensure political continuity. For this meeting "intermediate" Heads of state of the 55 member countries (and 13 observers) will be represented by their foreign minister or by their minister (or secretary of state, in the case of France) in charge of Francophonie . The meetings will take place the next few days, are responsible for ensuring the enforcement of judgments adopted at the Bucharest Summit and prepare the next to be held in Quebec. Representatives will vote on major multilateral action and French this year the main theme will be "French, a tool for solidarity and promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity."

For Laos, the desire to organize this gathering here in Vientiane was a great and noble gesture towards this Organization. This shows somewhere, even if the generation that comes to power is rather English (or Vietnamese students ...) and that the teaching of French collapses (sniff) there are people who still believe. For OIF, the act of organizing the conference here, reaffirms what I have heard for several years now: that the organization attaches some importance to the Asia-Pacific and is determined to continue the promotion of use of French in the area. Of course, have fine ideals, a sort of 'Potemkin village', behind which lurk the political-commercial purposes significant ... but for those who know me, I sincerely believe that the Francophonie can be a vector of solidarity and development.

So good, anyway, looks a tough week ...

So, while Mr. is in Luang Prabang, also for work, Ms. defends the Francophonie, with its limited resources;)

Cheers Francophonie ... or what!?!

Color Of Throat Cancer

I've been saying for several months, with the accumulated mess of our trips, successive moves, gifts, shopping, etc., we are very cramped in our little dollhouse.

Anyway, not wanting to move, we can not push the walls

... Well ... Maybe so, just ...

As I stroll through our streets this week, I found an original way, failing cellar, storage room or shed, being found our neighbors to stored efficiently and without loss of their gear up: between the two!

I suspect that even the green table also came out of the hole ... not hard to organize a magic wand 'aperitifs' improvised!

Do we still get along well with his neighbors and label business ...

Clever no?

System D. .. or nothing!

How To Make A Pinhole Camera With A Pringles Can

output Lent / out of the woods

After long weeks of absence, I'm back.

A new appointment, a busy and ( a first! ) hours of education at National University and that was it: I found myself completely overwhelmed! But everything is back to normal and now the blog again!

... And as you are not here to read the tale of a jaded expat, return quickly to our buffaloes Laos.

Today is the full moon of the eleventh month and is celebrated Ork Phansa ( vvdraolk ) or output of Buddhist Lent. A big party to celebrate the end of the retreat of the monks that lasted the duration of the rainy season.

In Vientiane, the output of Lent coincides with Lai Hua Fai , the festival of lights and the next day festival takes place canoes or Boun Souang Heua and all the festivities taking place around the river in honor of the 'naga', spirits, ancestors ...

The profane and the sacred together, as often in Laos, in a happy syncretism, thus illuminating the entrance of houses, shops, temples ... small candles. Inflaming the banks of the river from a myriad of small lights flickering, which shine through the night to the delight of the eyes and minds of the pranksters misfortune.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Tonight then, with friends, we parted company Vientiane for us to go south via Route 13 to a 60aine km from the capital. The aim of this expedition: see mystical (and mythical) fire balls ( bung fai paid nak) that appear on the evening of Ork Phansa which, tradition has it, are emanations of water spirits.

I can not say I saw something ... or that I have not seen anything ...

But the ride is worth the detour altogether ... Hundreds of people gathered in small assembled around a fire, are found along the river and piqueniquent family, tirelessly scrutinizing the waves.

Children play with sparks, alumni tell stories, the lovers are taking advantage of the darkness and the brouhaha to intertwine his fingers - and each other party live in their own way. All

, believe and expect.

A magical eye of falanga we are ... and I could not, alas, captured with my small compact ...

But after all the magic and poetry does not tamed in a few 'clicks' ...

Believing ... or nothing!

At J & R: A big thank you to the "Caron"! :)

Is It Ok To Put Gatorade In A Camelbak?

Rush hour in Vientiane

I know is a bit sarcastic ... but I could not resist.
I took this picture yesterday, returning home, about 18 hours on the road Sokpaluang, direction Donpamai.
goats, they were returning home also put upward a real traffic jam on the road (it is not very good because I could not pull out the camera very fast ...). But believe me, between "Be-bééééééééé" of goats, "Bi-biiiiiiiip" cars, the screeching of tuk-tuks, the cacophony was wonderful!
This changes the Paris metro, right?

What Does Jeff Hartyput Onhis Face Paint

gore? Greetings from Hanoi

evenings where Bookstore is not there, let me back to childhood, when dining with a huge sandwich, though dripping, fat, although delicious. I had a very happy childhood, but my mother does not know (still) not cook! So, by default, she became expert in the snacks, lovely large and small ...

So I'm about to make my meals regression, when I realize that our toaster, no more grid! However, a grilled toaster, it's annoying to get sandwiches.

I disconnected, I pull out the tools and I decided to clean it by keeping the head down in the sink ... and there ... yelling and screaming (in vain because I'm all alone and my neighbors on both sides just moved), because apart from the crumbs other particles sandwiches previous fall so I see in my sink three skeletons (well two skeletons and a burnt body) of geckos!

must say that these beasts sneak everywhere, especially where we least expect: pockets of pants, shoes, glasses boxes, USB (yes, yes, I'm not kidding). Then, ladies geckos lay sometimes in the pockets of shirts and Bookseller in my bags! A delight to find that sometimes, good morning, shells or worse, small creatures as surprised as you, air outraged that forced awakening.

We discover (in horror) as geckos crushed between the door and door frame, window and window frame ... it squiiiiiiiich when trying to close, and then when you stop movement, and well, it's too late.

Yuck. Still

that suddenly, I'm always hungry and I have no plan B ...
And then, too, I'll have to clean the sink before Mr J

can ... Have the faint of heart ... or nothing!
(if I express it does not illustrate this post pictures ...)

Does Sara Jay Have Hiv

Party in Hanoi for a few days ... (That is why no news for some time). Reunion with a city I thought I knew already, but even if it did not seem changed, was completely unknown ... reunion with a great friend of the time of Nha Trang ... a reunion with Miss D, which we lack here in Vientiane.

Before I give 100% in the bath Lao (the back is well underway!) I will share with you a little mignonerie made me smile, even a few minutes before landing.

It was the entry form, asking passengers to kindly fill in block letters in black or green (!?!) customary information . This little phrase also made me travel back in time, a time or my Vietnamese was faltering but at least I knew where my colors!

Indeed, this small eccentricity (rather it is expected demand ink black or blue ) is that 'xanh' is the term that refers to both the blue than green ... The accuracy can still be done by specifying if 'xanh' sky color or leaf color ... Very poetic, not at all?
And soon for Lao adventures!
